أخبرني إبراهيم بن عِصْمةَ بن إبراهيم العَدْل، حدَّثنا أبي، حدَّثنا يحيى بن يحيى، أخبرنا هُشَيم، أخبرنا أبو بِشْر، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ﴾ قال: الكوثرُ: الخيرُ الكثير الذي أعطاه الله إياه. قال أبو بِشْر: فقلتُ لسعيد: إنَّ ناسًا يَزعُمون أنه نهرٌ في الجنة، فقال: والنهرُ من الخير الكثير (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه! فأما قولُه ﷿: ﴿فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ﴾، فقد اختلف الصحابةُ في تأويلها، وأحسنُها ما رُوي عن أمير المؤمنين عليّ بن أبي طالب في روايتين: الأولى منهما:
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه! فأما قولُه ﷿: ﴿فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ﴾، فقد اختلف الصحابةُ في تأويلها، وأحسنُها ما رُوي عن أمير المؤمنين عليّ بن أبي طالب في روايتين: الأولى منهما:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning "Indeed, We have given you al-Kawthar" [Surah al-Kawthar: 1], that he said: "Al-Kawthar is the abundant good that Allah has given him (peace and blessings be upon him)." Abu Bishr says: I said to Sa'id bin Jubayr: People claim that it is a river in Paradise. He said: "That river is also part of the abundant good."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. As for the words of Allah Almighty: "So pray to your Lord and sacrifice" [Surah al-Kawthar: 2], the Companions differed in its interpretation, and the best of it is what has been narrated from the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), in two narrations. The first of them is this:

(1) إسناده صحيح. يحيى بن يحيى: هو النيسابوري، وأبو بشر: هو جعفر بن أبي وحشية.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Yahya bin Yahya is al-Naysaburi, and Abu Bishr is Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiyyah.
وأخرجه البخاري (4966) و (6578)، والنسائي (11640) من طرق عن هشيم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (4966, 6578) and al-Nasa'i (11640) recorded it via various routes from Hushaym, with this chain.
فاستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): So al-Hakim's including it in al-Mustadrak is an oversight on his part.
