It is narrated in mursal form from al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning the words of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, with hardship comes ease" [Surah al-Sharh: 6], that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out one day in a state of joy and delight, laughing, and he was saying: "One hardship will never overcome two eases: 'Indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease.'" [Surah al-Sharh: 5-6]

Grading: Its chain is da'if because it is mursal (although its narrators are trustworthy); al-Hasan al-Basri did not mention the intermediary between himself and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Ayyub is Ibn Abi Tamimah al-Sakhtiyani. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (9541) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain. 2/ 380. Reference / Source: It is in "Tafsir Abd al-Razzaq" (2/380). Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" (30/236) via Muhammad bin Thawr al-San'ani, from Ma'mar, with the same chain. Reference / Source: It was also narrated from al-Hasan (in al-Tabari) by Yunus bin Ubayd and 'Awf bin Abi Jamilah. Reference / Source: He also recorded it (30/236) via Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah as mursal; he said: It was mentioned to us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave his Companions glad tidings with this verse and said: "One hardship will never overcome two eases." Its narrators are trustworthy. 4/ 372. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a marfu' report from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi from Jabir bin Abdullah, recorded by Ibn Mardawayh in his "Tafsir", and its chain is da'if, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "al-Taghliq" (4/372).
