Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: Here our manuscripts contain words that come later, namely: "wa huwa muntaqi' al-lawn" (his colour had changed); we have established the text according to the printed edition, which is more appropriate and agrees with the sources of takhrij.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Abu Muslim is the hafiz Abu Muslim al-Kajji, Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Muslim al-Basri.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (19/12221, 12506, 21/14069), Muslim (162/261) and Ibn Hibban (6334, 6336) recorded it via various routes from Hammad bin Salamah, with this chain. So al-Hakim's including it in al-Mustadrak is an oversight on his part.
Note / Clarification: Abu Hatim Ibn Hibban said: The chest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was split open when he was a boy playing with the other boys, and a clot of blood ('alaqah) was taken out of it. And when Allah, Exalted and Majestic, intended to take him on the Night Journey, He commanded Jibril to split open his chest a second time, and he took out his heart, washed it, and then returned it to its place. This happened twice, on two occasions, and the two do not contradict each other.
Note / Clarification: His words "thumma la'amahu" mean: he mended it and joined it together.
Note / Clarification: "Al-zi'r": the wet nurse, and she is Halimah al-Sa'diyyah.
Note / Clarification: "Muntaqi' al-lawn": that is, one whose colour has changed.
Note / Clarification: "Al-mikhyat": a needle.
Reference / Source: The report of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was recorded by Malik in "al-Muwatta'" (2/446), and via him by al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (30/221), from Zayd bin Aslam from Umar. It is munqati'; Zayd did not live in Umar's time. It has also been narrated as mawsul from Zayd bin Aslam from his father Aslam from Umar, and it has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) at number (3215); it is a hasan report.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): As for the report of Ali bin Abi Talib, we have not found it.
Reference / Source: It has also been narrated from Ibn Mas'ud as mawquf by Abd bin Humayd with a good chain, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "Taghliq al-Ta'liq" (4/372).
