Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The words "bin Ahmad" do not appear in manuscript (B), where he is instead attributed to his grandfather; they are present in manuscripts (Z), (S) and ('A), but there they appear inverted as "Abu 'Amr Ahmad bin Muhammad", whereas the correct form is "Ahmad bin Muhammad", and this is how it appears in several places in this book of the author (al-Hakim). See his biography in "Tarikh Dimashq" (51/7) and "Tarikh al-Islam" (8/48).
Grading: Its chain is hasan on account of 'Isam bin Rawwad and his father, and both of them have been corroborated. Al-Dhahabi (may Allah have mercy on him) made an oversight in his "Talkhis" and said: 'Isam bin Rawwad is alone in narrating it from his father, and he has been declared weak. Isma'il bin Ubaydullah is Ibn Abi al-Muhajir al-Makhzumi.
Reference / Source: Al-Wahidi recorded it in "Asbab al-Nuzul" (861) from Abu Bakr bin Abi al-Hasan al-Musayyabi, from Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Dabbi (that is, al-Hakim), with this chain.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded it in "al-Musannaf" (13/104), and Muhammad bin Khalaf al-'Asqalani (in al-Tabari's "Tafsir" 30/232), both from Rawwad bin al-Jarrah with the same chain, but as an abridged saying of Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas, limited to the story of the thousand palaces, without mentioning his father Abdullah bin Abbas.
Reference / Source: Like the author's narration, it was recorded by al-Tabari (30/232), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (10650) and "al-Awsat" (3209), al-Ajurri in "al-Shari'ah" (1109), Tammam al-Razi in "al-Fawa'id" (448) and Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" (3/212) via 'Amr bin Hashim al-Bayruti; by al-Ajurri (1110) and al-Bayhaqi in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (7/61-62) via Sufyan al-Thawri; and by al-Ajurri (1108) via Umar bin Abd al-Wahid. All three ('Amr, Sufyan and Umar) narrate it from al-Awza'i. However, Sufyan placed at its beginning the story of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seeing the conquests that would be opened for his Ummah and his joy at that, as marfu', from his (peace and blessings be upon him) own words. Al-Bayhaqi pointed out that it has also been narrated from Sufyan by another route as mawquf, like the narration of the others from al-Awza'i.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Awsat" (572) and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" (12/380) via Mu'awiyah bin Abi al-Abbas, from Isma'il bin Ubaydullah al-Makhzumi, with the same chain, and he narrated its beginning as marfu', like one of the two narrations of Sufyan.
Grading: Mu'awiyah (bin Abi al-Abbas) is layyin (weak).
