أخبرنا أبو النَّضْر الفقيه، حدَّثنا معاذ بن نَجْدة القرشي، أخبرنا قَبيصة بن عُقْبة، حدَّثنا سفيان، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقِيل، عن الطُّفيل بن أبيِّ بن كعب، عن أبيِّ بن كعب قال: كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا ذهب ربعُ الليل قال: "يا أيُّها الناسُ، اذكُروا الله، يا أيُّها الناسُ، اذكُروا الله، جاءت الرَّاجفةُ تَتْبعُها الرادفةُ، جاء الموتُ بما فيه، جاء الموتُ بما فيه". فقال أبي بن كعب: يا رسول الله، إني أُكثِرُ الصلاةَ عليك، فكم أجعلُ [لك] من صلاتي؟ قال: "ما شئت" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that when a quarter of the night had passed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would (wake and) say: "O people, remember Allah! O people, remember Allah! (The first blast of the Trumpet,) al-Rajifah, has come, to be followed by (the second blast,) al-Radifah. Death has come with all its horrors, death has come with all its horrors." So Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, I send abundant blessings upon you; so how much of my supplication should I devote to you (for sending blessings)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As much as you wish."

Grading: Its chain is "hasan" in corroborating chains and supporting reports because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil. Sufyan is "al-Thawri".
