أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفّار، حدَّثنا أحمد بن مِهْران، حدَّثنا عُبيد الله بن موسى، حدَّثنا إسرائيل، حدَّثنا سِمَاك بن حَرْب، عن خالد بن عَرعَرة قال: قام رجل إلى علي فقال: ما العاصفاتُ عَصْفًا؟ قال: الرِّياح (3). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Khalid bin Ar'arah (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man stood up before Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: What is meant by "al-'asifat 'asfan" (those that blow violently)? He said: It refers to the fierce, violent winds.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(3) إسناده حسن. Grading: Its chain is "hasan". وأخرجه إسحاق بن راهويه في "مسنده" كما في "المطالب العالية" (3773)، والبيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (3704) من طريقين عن سماك بن حرب، به - ضمن خبر طويل. Reference / Source: Ishaq bin Rahawayh narrated it in his "Musnad" (as in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" 3773) and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (3704) by two routes from Simak bin Harb, likewise - within a long report.
