It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day he narrated a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he began to tremble (out of fear of Allah) and his clothes shook. Then he said (out of caution): "Or something like this (he (peace and blessings be upon him) said)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Grading: This report is "sahih", and because of Yahya bin Abi Talib its chain is "qawi" (strong). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrators in the chain are identified as follows: Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri is Muhammad bin Abd Allah bin al-Zubayr al-Kufi, Isra'il is Ibn Yunus bin Abi Ishaq al-Sabi'i, Abu Hasin is Uthman bin Asim, and Abd Allah is the well-known Companion Abd Allah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in his "Musnad" (7/ 4015) through the route of Yahya bin Abi Bukayr from Isra'il with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad also transmitted a narration of similar meaning (4333) through the route of Amir al-Sha'bi from Masruq.
