Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3790

It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) describing the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A rider would travel (in the shade of) one of its branches for a hundred years; a hundred riders could take shade under each one of its branches; and upon it are butterflies of gold (swarming)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan", if Allah wills.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Muhammad bin Ishaq is known for tadlis, he explicitly stated that he heard it from Yahya bin 'Abbad in the narration of Hannad in "al-Zuhd" (115) and of Ibn 'Asakir (51/ 187).
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (2541) narrated it from Abu Kurayb from Yunus bin Bukayr, and made clear that the phrase "a hundred riders would travel in its shade" is a doubt on the part of the narrator Yahya bin 'Abbad; he added at its end: "As if its fruits were large jars (qilal)." Al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih gharib".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a marfu' report from Abu Hurayrah: "In Paradise there is a tree in whose shade a rider could travel for a hundred years and not cross it."
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (4881) and Muslim (2826) narrated it.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: In the long hadith of the Mi'raj from Anas bin Malik from Malik bin Sa'sa'ah: "The Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha) was raised up for me, and its lote-fruits (its fruits) were like the jars of Hajar." (al-Bukhari: 3207). In Muslim (162) it is from the hadith of Anas, without mention of Malik bin Sa'sa'ah. "Al-qullah": a large jar.
Reference / Source: Muslim (173) narrated from Ibn Mas'ud that he recited the verse ﴿إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَى﴾ [When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered it] and said: moths of gold.
