حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ، حدثنا محمد بن غالب، حدثنا عفَّان، حدثنا شُعْبة. وأخبرني أحمد بن يعقوب الثَّقَفي، حدثنا محمد بن أيوب، أخبرنا أبو عمر الحَوْضي، حدثنا شعبة، عن سعد بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه: أنَّ عمر بن الخطَّاب قال لابن مسعود ولأبي الدَّرداء ولأبي ذر: ما هذا الحديثُ عن رسول الله ﷺ؟! وأحسبُه حَبَسَهم بالمدينة حتى أُصيب (1).

Sa'd bin Ibrahim narrates from his father that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Ibn Mas'ud, Abu al-Darda and Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with them): "What is this abundance of hadith (being narrated) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?!" And I think he kept them confined in Madinah until he (Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred.

(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو عمر الحوضي: هو حفص بن عمر، وإبراهيم: هو ابن عبد الرحمن بن عوف.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Umar al-Hawdi's name is Hafs bin Umar, and Ibrahim is Ibrahim bin Abd al-Rahman bin Awf.
وأخرجه الطحاوي في "مشكل الآثار" 15/ 311 - 312 من طريق أبي النضر هاشم بن القاسم، عن شعبة، بهذا الإسناد. وانظر ما بعده.
