It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let me never find any of you reclining on his adorned couch, when a command of mine reaches him, something I have ordered or forbidden, and he says: 'I do not know; whatever (command) we found in the Book of Allah, we followed it (and left the rest).'"
Sufyan bin Uyaynah kept this chain intact, and it is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it. In my view, they left it because of a disagreement of the Egyptians about this chain.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In Talkhis al-Mustadrak, the printed editions and the other sources this word is as it appears here, while in the manuscripts it is written "la-ulfiyanna".
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sufyan mentioned in the chain is Sufyan bin Uyaynah. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (39/ 23876), Abu Dawud (3605), Ibn Majah (13) and al-Tirmidhi (2663) narrated it through the route of Sufyan bin Uyaynah. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In Ibn Majah's narration there is doubt between Salim Abu al-Nadr and Zayd bin Aslam, which does no harm since both are thiqah; while with al-Tirmidhi, Muhammad bin al-Munkadir is mentioned together with Salim, and al-Tirmidhi clarified that Ibn al-Munkadir's narration is mursal. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated a narration of similar meaning (23861) through the chain of Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak from Abd Allah bin Lahi'ah from Salim Abu al-Nadr.
