Asim bin Muhammad bin Zayd narrates from his father that on Friday Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) would stand beside the pulpit, put the straps of his sandals over his forearms, take hold of the knob of the pulpit and say: "Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, the Truthful and Confirmed One (peace and blessings be upon him) said." Then during this he would also say: "Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near." Then, when he sensed the movement of the door of the maqsurah as the imam came out, he would sit down.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it in this way. The purpose here is not to authenticate the hadith "Woe to the Arabs", because it is found with the two Shaykhs; rather, the purpose is to show that it is recommended to narrate hadith on the pulpit before the imam comes out.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Dhahabi faulted it for inqita' (a break in the chain), although Muhammad bin Zayd (bin Abd Allah bin Umar) hearing from Abu Hurayrah is very possible, since he narrated even from those who died before Abu Hurayrah, and both are Medinans. Later, under number (6297), there is also an explicit statement of his hearing with a sahih chain. Ahmad bin Yunus mentioned in the chain is Ahmad bin Abd Allah bin Yunus, who is attributed here to his grandfather. (8699). Important point: According to our research, Imam al-Hakim is alone in narrating this entire report, except for the sentence "Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near"; this part is narrated from Abu Hurayrah through other chains in Musnad Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Ibn Hibban. Reference / Source: It will come again with the author under numbers (8561) and (8699).
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari (3346) and Imam Muslim (2880) narrated it as the hadith of Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her); however, they did not narrate this hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), as mentioned before.
