حَدَّثَنَا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا إبراهيم بن مرزوق، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْب بن جَرير وأبو داود قالا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبة، عن الأعمش، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عبَّاس: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قرأَ هذه الآية: ﴿اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ﴾ [آل عمران: 102]، "والذي نفسُ محمدٍ بيدِه، لو أنَّ قَطْرةً من الزَّقُوم قَطَرَت في الأرض، لأَفسَدَت على أهل الدنيا مَعايشَهم، فكيف بمن تكون طعامَه؟ " (2).
هذا حديث أخرجه الإمام أبو يعقوب الحَنظَلي (3) في تفسير قوله: ﴿خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَى سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ (47) ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ﴾ [الدخان: 47 - 48]. وهو صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. ﷽ [45 - ومن تفسير (حم) الجاثية] وعند أهل الحرمين أنه (حم) الشَّريعة (1)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Fear Allah as He deserves to be feared, and do not die except as Muslims." [Surah Al Imran: 102] Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! If a single drop of Zaqqum were to drip onto the earth, it would ruin the means of livelihood of all the people of the world; so what will be the state of the one whose very food it will be?" Imam Abu Ya'qub al-Hanzali recorded it in the explanation of this saying of Allah Almighty: "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire; then pour over his head the torment of scalding water" [Surah al-Dukhan: 47 - 48].
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

Grading: Its narrators are thiqah, but it is "not sahih" as marfu'.
Note / Clarification: It is a repetition of no. (3196).

Note / Clarification: Because of the words of Allah the Exalted in verse (18) of this same surah: ﴿ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَى شَرِيعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا﴾ [Then We put you on a clear way (shari'ah) of the matter, so follow it].
