It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). Salamah bin Sabrah says that Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed us in a sermon and said: "You are the believers and you are the people of Paradise. By Allah! I hope that most of the people of the lands of Persia and Rome over which you are prevailing will also enter Paradise, because when one of them does a good deed, you say to him: 'You have done very well, may Allah bless you; you have done very well, may Allah have mercy on you.' And Allah Almighty says: 'And He responds to those who believe and do righteous deeds, and gives them more out of His bounty.' [Surah al-Shura: 26]"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) in its chain of narration, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: There is a possibility that its chain is "hasan". Technical note / Defect ('illah): This possibility is because of the narrator "Salamah bin Sabrah". Although Abu Wa'il Shaqiq bin Salamah is alone in narrating from him (that is, no other narrator narrates from him), he (Salamah) is one of the senior Successors, and Imam al-Ijli and Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy. Note / Clarification: The narrator "Jarir" mentioned in the chain is "Jarir bin Abd al-Hamid". Reference / Source: This hadith was recorded by Musaddad bin Musarhad in his "Musnad", as stated in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" (no. 3706); also by Imam al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (25/ 29) and in the Musnad of Ibn Abbas in "Tahdhib al-Athar" (2/ 666), by Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "al-Ja'diyyat" (no. 2693), by al-Tha'labi in his "Tafsir" (8/ 317), by Imam al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (no. 72), and by Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (22/ 74). Details of the narration: All these are narrated through various routes via al-A'mash, with this chain. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (11/ 30) narrated its first part. Details of the narration: The first part of this narration is the statement: "أنتم المؤمنون، وأنتم أهل الجنة" (You are the believers, and you are the people of Paradise). Ibn Abi Shaybah transmitted it via Abd Allah bin Idris, from al-A'mash, with this chain. Note / Clarification: The explanation of the words of the hadith "تصيبون..." (you will get/obtain...) is that you will encounter them in your wars and take them captive; then, coming under your care, they will accept Islam, and so Allah the Exalted will answer your supplication for them.
