أخبرنا أبو زكريا العنبري، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن عبد السلام، حَدَّثَنَا إسحاق، أخبرنا عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث، حَدَّثَنَا همَّام، عن قتادة، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرمة، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: كان بين آدمَ ونوح عَشَرَةُ قُرون، كلُّهم على شريعة من الحقِّ، فلما اختَلَفوا بَعَثَ الله النبيِّين والمرسَلين وأَنزل كتابه، فكانوا أُمَّةً واحدةً (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Between Sayyiduna Adam and Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon them both) there was a span of ten generations, and all of them were upon a law of truth. Then, when differences arose among them, Allah Almighty sent the prophets and messengers and revealed His Book; before that they were a single nation.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. إسحاق: هو ابن راهويه، وهمام: هو ابن يحيى العَوْذي.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Ishaq is Ibn Rahawayh, and Hammam is Ibn Yahya al-Awdhi.

Note / Clarification: It will come later at (4053) via Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi from Hammam.
وسلف أوله مرفوعًا برقم (3076) من حديث أبي أمامة الباهلي. وإسناده صحيح.
Note / Clarification: Its first part has passed earlier as marfu' at (3076) as the hadith of Abu Umamah al-Bahili, and its chain is "sahih".
