It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sulayman bin Surad (may Allah be pleased with him) that two men reviled each other near the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the anger of one of them became intense. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know a word which, if he were to say it, his anger would leave him. (That word is): 'A'udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim' (I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed)." That man said (in anger): Do you think I am mad? So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "And if an evil suggestion from Satan provokes you, then seek refuge in Allah." [Surah Fussilat: 36]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) in its chain of narration.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: It is like this in "al-Mustadrak", and al-Bayhaqi likewise transmitted it from him in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7931), but this is an "oversight" (dhuhul), because the recitation in verse 36 of Surah Fussilat is as follows: ﴿وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ﴾ [And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing].
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Abu Usamah is Hammad bin Usamah, and al-A'mash is Sulayman bin Mihran. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Muslim (2610-110) from Nasr bin Ali al-Jahdami, from Abu Usamah, with this chain (without mention of the recitation). It was also recorded by Ahmad, al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i and Ibn Hibban through several routes via al-A'mash.
