Hakim bin Mu'awiyah bin Haydah narrates from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will be brought on the Day of Resurrection with fidam (cloth coverings or stoppers) placed over your mouths, and the first part of a human being that will speak will be his thigh and his palm."
This hadith is well known through the narration of Bahz bin Hakim from his father. Al-Jurayri has also corroborated him and narrated it from Hakim bin Mu'awiyah, by which the hadith is established as sahih, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (Z) and (B) this is distorted into "Salamah".
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" because of "Hakim bin Mu'awiyah". As for "Muhammad bin Maslamah" (Abu Ja'far al-Wasiti al-Tayalisi), although there is some criticism of him, several narrators corroborated him, so his hadith becomes hasan. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad (33/ 20026) from Yazid bin Harun, with this chain. Note / Clarification: See the next narration; it will come later at number (8988) in a longer form via Bahz bin Hakim from his father. Note / Clarification: "al-Fidam" (as in al-Nihayah): the cloth tied over the mouth of a jug or pitcher to strain the drink in it. The meaning is that their mouths will be prevented from speaking until their limbs speak; this is likened to the fidam.
