Mustadrak al-Hakim 3630 — I have been given five things

أخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله الشافعي، حدثنا إسحاق بن الحسن، حدثنا أبو حُذيفة، حدثنا سفيان، عن أبي إسحاق، عن التميمي، عن ابن عبَّاس في قوله ﷿: ﴿وَأَنَّى لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ مِنْ مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ﴾ [سبأ: 52]، قال: يَسألون الردَّ، وليس بحينِ ردٍّ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. ﷽ [35 - ومن سورة الملائكة]

It is reported from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "But how can they attain it from a place far off?" [Surah Saba: 52], that he said: They will ask to be returned (to the world), but now it is no longer the time for return. This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده محتمل للتحسين من أجل التميمي: واسمه أَربِدَة، وقد سلف بيان حاله عند الحديث (925). أبو حذيفة: هو موسى بن مسعود النهدي، وسفيان: هو الثوري، وأبو إسحاق: هو عمرو بن عبد الله السبيعي.
Grading: Its chain can possibly be considered hasan because of "al-Tamimi" (whose name is Arbidah). His condition has been explained under hadith (925).
Note / Clarification: Abu Hudhayfah is Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi, Sufyan is al-Thawri, and Abu Ishaq is Amr bin Abd Allah al-Sabi'i.
وهو في "تفسير أبي حذيفة" برقم (785).
Reference / Source: It is in "Tafsir Abi Hudhayfah" at number (785).
وأخرجه ابن أبي الدنيا في "الأحوال" (111) من طريق وكيع، عن سفيان، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi al-Dunya recorded it in "al-Ahwal" (111) via Waki', from Sufyan, with this same chain.
وأخرجه يحيى بن سلام في "تفسيره" 2/ 771، وابن أبي الدنيا (110) و (111)، وأبو حاتم الرازي في "الزهد" (36)، والطبري في "تفسيره" 22/ 110 من طرق عن أبي إسحاق، به.
Reference / Source: Yahya bin Sallam recorded it in his "Tafsir" (2/ 771), Ibn Abi al-Dunya (110, 111), Abu Hatim al-Razi in "al-Zuhd" (36) and al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (22/ 110) via several routes from Abu Ishaq, with this same chain.
