(2). Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one night I looked for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and found him (peace and blessings be upon him) standing in prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed a very long prayer, then said: "Tonight I have been given five things which were not given to any prophet before me: I have been sent to the red and the black (that is, to all humans and jinn); I have been helped by awe, so that the enemy is struck with awe even while he is a month's journey away; the earth has been made for me a place of prostration and a means of purification (for tayammum); the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not lawful for anyone before me; and it was said to me: Ask and you will be given, so I have kept this supplication hidden as intercession for my Ummah. So this intercession will reach everyone who did not associate anything with Allah." This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it in this wording, although they have recorded different words of it separately.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih, Allah willing. Al-A'mash (Sulayman bin Mihran) is known for tadlis, and more than one scholar has mentioned that most of what he narrates from Mujahid is mudallas (with a concealed gap), though his hearing from Mujahid is established in more than one hadith in the two Sahihs and elsewhere. However, he heard little from him, as Abu Hatim al-Razi said in his son's "Ilal al-Hadith" (2119). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Daraqutni mentioned in his "Ilal" (1115), regarding this hadith, a narration of Qutbah bin Abd al-Aziz from al-A'mash in which he inserted "Ibrahim bin Muhajir" between al-A'mash and Mujahid (and Ibrahim is not that strong). But we have not found this narration of Qutbah with a chain in the sources available to us. In any case, al-A'mash has been corroborated, as will come. Note / Clarification: Muhammad bin Jarir the jurist is "al-Tabari", author of the "Tafsir", Abu Kurayb is Muhammad bin al-Ala', and Abu Usamah is Hammad bin Usamah. Reference / Source: Ahmad (35/ 21299 and 21314), Abu Dawud (489) and Ibn Hibban (6462) recorded it via several routes from al-A'mash, with this same chain. Abu Dawud confined himself to the part "The earth has been made for me a means of purification and a place of prayer". Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Al-A'mash was corroborated by "Abd al-Karim al-Jazari" (who is thiqah) from Mujahid, similar to al-A'mash's narration. Al-Daraqutni mentioned it in "al-Ilal", but we have not found this narration of Abd al-Karim with a chain. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: He was also corroborated by "Wasil bin Hayyan" from Mujahid in Ahmad (21435), except that he made it a narration of Mujahid from Abu Dharr, dropping Ubayd bin Umayr. Grading: Al-Daraqutni said: The preserved version is that of those who said "from Mujahid, from Ubayd bin Umayr, from Abu Dharr". (11/ 7068). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This hadith of Abu Dharr has several supporting reports; see them under the hadith of Abd Allah bin Amr in "Musnad Ahmad" (11/ 7068).
Reference / Source: The two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) recorded it from the hadith of Jabir bin Abd Allah, al-Bukhari at (335) and (438) and Muslim at (521), and Muslim at (523) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah.
