It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "And they say: When is this victory, if you are truthful? Say: On the Day of Victory, their faith will not benefit those who disbelieved, nor will they be given respite" [Surah al-Sajdah: 28-29], that he said: On the day of the Battle of Badr, victory was granted to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so on that day their believing after death was of no benefit to the disbelievers.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
