Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3575

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). Abu Burdah says: I prayed the Asr prayer beside him and heard him reciting this verse in his bowing (ruku'): "My Lord, because of the favour You have bestowed upon me, I will never be a supporter of the criminals" [Surah al-Qasas: 17]. When he finished the prayer, he said: "Every prayer I have prayed, I hope that it will be an expiation for the prayer before it."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This report is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" on account of Ahmad bin Mihran.
Note / Clarification: Abu Nu'aym is al-Fadl bin Dukayn, and Abu Burdah is Ibn Abi Musa al-Ash'ari.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (2876) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this chain.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" (7/ 239) through Abd Allah bin Muhammad bin al-Nu'man, from Abu Nu'aym, except that he did not mention his supplication in his ruku'.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Abd al-Razzaq (2893) and Abu Nu'aym (1/ 304 and 7/ 240) through Sufyan bin Uyaynah, and by Ibn Abi Shaybah (10/ 334) from Waki', both from Mis'ar. Abu Nu'aym added a story to it, whose chain is not sound.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded it in another place (2/ 389) from Waki', from Mis'ar and Shu'bah, from Sa'id bin Abi Burdah, from his father, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I have not prayed any prayer except" (and he mentioned the hadith); thus he made it "marfu'".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Even if this narration is confirmed in the manuscripts of Ibn Abi Shaybah's book, Ibn Abi Shaybah erred in this place, because in his own book, in the other place, Waki''s narration came correctly as "mawquf" on Ibn Umar. Furthermore, Abu Burdah, the father of Sa'id, is not a Companion and did not live in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
