Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is "sahih", like the previous one, but this chain has some weakness (lin) because of "Ibrahim bin Yahya al-Adani" (Ibn Abi Ya'qub).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Two narrators, Sufyan and Ibrahim bin al-Hakam bin Aban, narrated from him, and this Ibrahim bin al-Hakam is weak. As for Ibrahim bin Yahya, no declaration of his reliability is transmitted from anyone other than Ibn Hibban. Al-Azdi said: His hadith is not corroborated. Al-Dhahabi said in "Talkhis al-Mustadrak": He is "unknown" (la yu'raf), and said in "al-Mizan": This man is "nakirah" (unknown), and he cited this hadith under his entry.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Humaydi (535), al-Bazzar (2245 - Kashf al-Astar), Abu Ya'la (2408), al-Tabari (20/ 68), Ibn Abi Hatim (9/ 2970), Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" (7/ 317) and al-Bayhaqi (6/ 117), through various routes from Sufyan bin Uyaynah, with this chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In al-Bazzar, "Ibrahim bin A'yan" is written in place of "Ibrahim bin Yahya", which is certainly an error by a narrator below Sufyan bin Uyaynah, and this Ibn A'yan is weak.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (2684) narrated something similar through Sa'id bin Jubayr from Ibn Abbas, but it is "mawquf". Likewise al-Tabari (20/ 68) recorded it through Qatadah from Ibn Abbas, but there is a "break" (inqita') between the two of them.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: One supporting report for it is the hadith of Jabir in al-Tabarani's "al-Awsat" (8372), and its chain is "hasan".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A second supporting report is from the hadith of Utbah bin al-Nudhar in al-Bazzar's Musnad (2246), and a third is from the hadith of Abu Dharr, also with al-Bazzar, as in his "Zawa'id" (2246). Both of their chains contain weakness, and the hadith of Abu Dharr is the weaker of the two.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And two other supporting reports, from Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, are in Ibn Marduyah's "al-Tafsir", as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar stated in "Fath al-Bari" (8/ 375). And all five of these hadiths are "marfu'".
