حدثني بكر بن محمد بن حَمْدان الصَّيرَفي بمَرْو، حدثنا عبد الصمد بن الفضل البَلْخي، حدثنا حفص بن عمر العَدَني، حدثنا الحَكَم بن أبَان، عن عِكْرمة، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: سُئِلَ رسولُ الله ﷺ: أيَّ الأَجَلَينِ قَضَى موسى؟ قال: "أبعَدَهما وأطيَبَهما" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "Which term (of the two terms) did Musa (peace be upon him) complete?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one that was longer and better (that is, the term of ten years)."

(1) حديث صحيح بطرقه وشواهده، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف حفص بن عمر العدني ووهّاه الذهبي في "تلخيصه"، وهو لم ينفرد به، فقد تابعه إبراهيم بن يحيى العدني كما في الحديث التالي عند المصنف، كما أنَّ له شواهد سيأتي تخريجها عنده.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih" on the strength of its routes and supporting reports, but this chain is "da'if" due to the weakness of Hafs bin Umar al-Adani; al-Dhahabi declared him feeble in "al-Talkhis".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: However, he is not alone in it: Ibrahim bin Yahya al-Adani corroborated him, as in the author's next hadith, and it also has supporting reports (shawahid) that are coming later.
وأخرجه البيهقي 6/ 117 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi (6/ 117) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this chain.
