Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3510

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever sells the skin of his sacrificial animal, his sacrifice (its reward) is lost."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) like the previous hadith, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (3) Its chain is "da'if" like the previous chain (because of the weakness of Ibn Ayyash). Al-Dhahabi drew attention to this in "al-Talkhis". Yahya bin Ja'far bin al-Zibriqan is the same person as Yahya bin Abi Talib.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi (9/ 294) narrated it through al-Hakim.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is the hadith of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in Ahmad (2/ 593) and Muslim (1317): "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me to stand over his sacrificial camels, to give their meat, hides and coverings in charity, and not to give the butcher anything from them. He said: We will give him from what we have."
