It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "A straitened life" [Surah Ta Ha: 124]: "It refers to the punishment of the grave."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) Its chain is "sahih", but there is disagreement over whether it is marfu' or mawquf on Abu Sa'id; the correct view is that it is "mawquf". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ishaq is Ibn Rahawayh, and Abu Hazim is Salamah bin Dinar. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "Ithbat 'Adhab al-Qabr" (59) from al-Hakim, with this chain, and then said: "Likewise Hafs bin 'Abd al-Rahman narrated it from Hammad as marfu'." Technical note / Defect ('illah): Contradicting the two (al-Nadr bin Shumayl and Hafs bin 'Abd al-Rahman), Yahya bin Sallam in his "Tafsir" (1/ 286), al-Hasan bin Musa al-Ashyab in al-Bayhaqi (60), and Abu 'Umar al-Darir (Hafs bin 'Umar) in al-Wahidi's "al-Wasit" (3/ 226) all three narrated it from Hammad bin Salamah, with this chain, as "mawquf" on Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, and that is the "mahfuz" (preserved) version. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Hammad was corroborated in this narration as mawquf by Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah ('Abd al-Razzaq, "al-Musannaf": 6741; al-Tabari, "Tafsir": 16/ 227; al-Bayhaqi: 60), 'Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq al-Madani (Ibn Abi Shaybah: 13/ 392; al-Tabari: 16/ 227), Muhammad bin Ja'far bin Abi Kathir and 'Abd al-'Aziz bin Abi Hazim (al-Tabari: 16/ 228), and Sa'id bin Abi Hilal (also al-Tabari: 16/ 227); all five of them from Abu Hazim, from al-Nu'man bin Abi 'Ayyash, from Abu Sa'id as "mawquf". Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, Sufyan mentioned al-Nu'man by his kunyah, "Abu Salamah".
