It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Adam (peace be upon him) ate from the tree from which he had been forbidden, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: "What led you to disobey Me?" He said: "O my Lord, Hawwa made it attractive to me." Allah said: "Then I have given her the penalty that she will bear the hardship of pregnancy and of childbirth, and I have given her the hardship of bleeding twice a month." When Hawwa heard this, she cried out, and Allah said to her: "This wailing has been made (binding) upon you and upon your daughters."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
7/ 175. Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) In the manuscripts the name is "Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Sulayman" (with "Muhammad" repeated), which is an error. He has a biography in "al-Ansab" (1/ 119), "Tarikh al-Islam" (7/ 869) and "Lisan al-Mizan" (7/ 175).
Grading: (2) All its narrators are "thiqah" except the author's shaykh, Abu Ja'far al-Mudhakkir. According to al-Hakim (as quoted in "Lisan al-Mizan"), he used to narrate strange things. Technical note / Defect ('illah): But since Ibn Abi al-Dunya recorded this report in his works, such as "al-Riqqah wa al-Buka'" (307) and "al-'Uqubat" (118), he (Abu Ja'far) is freed from responsibility for it. The chain up to Ibn 'Abbas is "sahih", and apparently this is transmitted from the People of the Book (Isra'iliyyat). Reference / Source: Al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (8/ 144), al-Khara'iti in "I'tilal al-Qulub" (216), Abu al-Shaykh in "al-'Azamah" (1048), al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (5407), and al-Wahidi in "al-Wasit" (1/ 123) also recorded it via several routes from 'Abbad bin al-'Awwam, with this chain. Note / Clarification: "الرَّنّة": a sound and cry uttered in joy or grief.
