Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is hasan because of Khalid bin Mihran, and he is alone in mentioning "Surah al-Kahf" in the count of the seven long surahs.
Details of the narration: Yahya bin Adam narrated it from Isra'il, with al-Tabari (14/ 52), and did not mention al-Kahf in it, and he reported from Isra'il that he said: "I forgot the seventh."
Details of the narration: And Abu Bishr Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiyyah narrated it from Sa'id bin Jubayr, with him (al-Tabari), with Abu 'Ubayd in "Fada'il al-Qur'an" (p. 227), and likewise Ibn al-Durays (181), and he named the seventh surah as "Yunus", except that it is the saying of Sa'id and Ibn Abbas is not mentioned in it.
Reference / Source: As for the hadith of 'Ubaydullah bin Musa, al-Nasa'i (11212) narrated it from Ahmad bin Sulayman al-Ruhawi, from him, with Muslim al-Batin dropped from it - and he did not mention Surah al-Kahf in it, limiting himself to the first six. See the preceding narration.
