Mustadrak al-Hakim 3387 — Revelation of "And We certainly know those"

أخبرَناه أبو بكر الشافعيُّ، حدثنا إسحاق بن الحسن، حدثنا أبو حُذَيفة، حدثنا سفيان، عن رجلٍ، عن أبي الجَوْزاء، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: المستقدِمِين: الصفوفُ المقدَّمة، والمستأخِرِين: الصفوفُ المؤخَّرة (1).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "'Al-mustaqdimin' (those who go forward) means those in the front rows, and 'al-musta'khirin' (those who lag behind) means those in the back rows."

(1) إسناده ضعيف لإبهام الراوي عن أبي الجوزاء، ويغلب على الظن أنه عمرو بن مالك النُّكري الذي في الحديث السابق. وهذه الرواية تشهد لرواية جعفر بن سليمان المذكورة في التعليق السابق. أبو حذيفة: هو موسى بن مسعود النَّهدي، وسفيان: هو الثوري.
Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak) because the narrator from Abu al-Jawza' is unnamed (mubham). Most likely he is 'Amr bin Malik al-Nukri, who is in the previous hadith.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This narration supports the narration of Ja'far bin Sulayman mentioned in the previous note.
Note / Clarification: Abu Hudhayfah: he is Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi; and Sufyan: he is al-Thawri.
