Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3376

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الزاهدُ الأصبهاني، أخبرنا أحمد بن مِهْران الأصبهاني، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا إسرائيل، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي الأحوَص، عن عبد الله: أنه قال في قول الله ﷿: ﴿فَرَدُّوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِمْ﴾ [إبراهيم: 9]، قال: عَضُّوا عليها (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding this saying of Allah Almighty: "And they returned their hands to their mouths" [Surah Ibrahim: 9], that he said: "They bit their hands with their teeth (in rage)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو إسحاق: هو عمرو بن عبد الله السَّبيعي، وأبو الأحوص: هو عوف بن مالك بن نضلة الأشجعي.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Note / Clarification: Abu Ishaq: he is 'Amr bin 'Abd Allah al-Sabi'i; and Abu al-Ahwas: he is 'Awf bin Malik bin Nadlah al-Ashja'i.
وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 13/ 188 من طريق عبد الله بن رجاء البصري، عن إسرائيل، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" (13/ 188) through the route of 'Abd Allah bin Raja' al-Basri, from Isra'il, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أيضًا من طريق شريك النخعي، عن أبي إسحاق، به.
Reference / Source: He also recorded it through the route of Sharik al-Nakha'i, from Abu Ishaq, in the same way.
