Mustadrak al-Hakim 3374 — Caution is of no avail against decree

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), regarding this saying of Allah Almighty: "Have they not seen that We come to the land, reducing it from its borders?" [Surah al-Ra'd: 41], that he said: "It refers to the death of the land's scholars and jurists."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is very weak (da'if jiddan); Talhah (Ibn 'Amr bin 'Uthman al-Hadrami) was declared matruk (abandoned) by Ahmad and others, and al-Dhahabi faulted it in his "Talkhis" because of him.
Note / Clarification: Ishaq: he is Ibn Rahwayh.
Reference / Source: Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi recorded it in "al-Faqih wa al-Mutafaqqih" (155) through the route of Muhammad bin Hammad al-Tihrani, from 'Abd al-Razzaq, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari (13/ 174) and al-Khatib (154) recorded it through two routes from Talhah bin 'Amr in the same way.
