أخبرني الحسين بن حَلِيم (3) المروزي، أخبرنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدان، أخبرنا عبد الله، أخبرنا أبو خَلْدة، عن أبي العاليَةِ، قال: كنت أطوفُ مع ابن عبَّاس بالبيت، فكان يأخذُ بيدي، فيعلِّمُني لَحْنَ الكلام، فقال: يا أبا العاليَة، لا تقل: انصَرَفتُم من الصلاة، ولكن قل: قَضَيتُم الصلاة، فإنَّ الله يقول: ﴿انْصَرَفُوا صَرَفَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ﴾ [التوبة: 127] (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Abu al-Aliyah that he said: I was circumambulating the House with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). He took my hand and began teaching me the subtleties of speech. He said: "O Abu al-Aliyah, do not say: 'You turned away from the prayer (insaraftum)', but rather say: 'You completed the prayer (qadaytum)', because (Allah has used the words of turning away for the hypocrites, as) Allah Almighty says: 'They turned away; Allah has turned away their hearts' [Surah al-Tawbah: 127]."
This hadith is sahih in its chain, and the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts this name was corrupted into "Hakim", although it occurs correctly in many places in this book.
(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو الموجِّه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفَزَاري، وعبدان: هو عبد الله عثمان المروزي، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك، وأبو خلدة: هو خالد بن دينار التميمي، وأبو العالية: هو رفيع بن مِهران.
Grading: Its isnad is sahih.
Note / Clarification: (In the chain) Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin Amr al-Fazari, Abdan is Abdullah bin Uthman al-Marwazi, Abdullah is Ibn al-Mubarak, Abu Khaldah is Khalid bin Dinar al-Tamimi, and Abu al-Aliyah is Rufay' bin Mihran.
وأخرج نحوه سعيد بن منصور في التفسير من "سننه" (1052)، وابن أبي شيبة في "مصنفه" 2/ 382، والطبري في "تفسيره" 11/ 75، وكذا ابن أبي حاتم 6/ 1917 من طرق عن ابن عبَّاس.
Reference / Source: Something similar was recorded by Sa'id bin Mansur in the Tafsir section of his "Sunan" (1052), Ibn Abi Shaybah in his "Musannaf" (2/ 382), al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (11/ 75), and likewise Ibn Abi Hatim (6/ 1917), by several routes from Ibn Abbas.
