Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3301

أخبرنا محمد بن علي بن مَخلَد القاضي ببغداد، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن إبراهيم الدَّورَقي، حدثنا يعقوب بن يوسف (4) السَّدُوسي، حدثنا شُعْبة، عن داود بن أبي هند، عن أبي نَضْرة، عن أبي سعيد الخُدْري في هذه الآية: ﴿وَمَنْ يُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ دُبُرَهُ﴾ [الأنفال: 16] قال: نَزَلَت فينا يومَ بدر (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning this verse: "And whoever turns his back to them on that day" [Surah al-Anfal: 16], that he said: "This verse was revealed concerning us on the day of the Battle of Badr."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, and the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): It occurs like this in the manuscripts, and it is inverted (maqlub). The correct name is "Yusuf bin Ya'qub".

(1) خبر صحيح، وهذا إسناد قوي من أجل شيخ المصنف. أبو نضرة: هو المنذر بن مالك بن قِطعة.
Grading: The report is sahih, and this isnad is strong (qawi) because of the author's (al-Hakim's) shaykh.
Note / Clarification: (The narrator) Abu Nadrah is al-Mundhir bin Malik bin Qit'ah.
وأخرجه النسائي (8600) و (11139) من طريق أبي زيد الهروي، عن شعبة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (8600 and 11139) recorded it by way of Abu Zayd al-Harawi, from Shu'bah, with this same isnad.
وأخرجه أبو داود (2648)، والنسائي (11140) من طريق بشر بن المفضَّل، عن داود بن أبي هند، به.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2648) and al-Nasa'i (11140) recorded it by way of Bishr bin al-Mufaddal, from Dawud bin Abi Hind, with this isnad.
