It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at al-Batha when a cloud passed by. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know what this is?" We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is a cloud (al-sahab)." We said: A cloud. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And it is al-muzn (a rain cloud)." We said: Al-muzn. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And it is al-'anan (a high cloud)." We said: Al-'anan. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent, and then said: "Do you know how far it is between the heaven and the earth?" We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Between them is a distance of five hundred years' journey, and from each heaven to the next is a journey of five hundred years, and the thickness of each heaven is a journey of five hundred years. Above the seventh heaven is a sea, between whose top and bottom is as much as between the heaven and the earth. Then above that are eight mountain goats (angels in that form), between whose knees and hooves is as much as between the heaven and the earth. Then above that is the Throne, between whose bottom and top is as much as between the heaven and the earth. And Allah Almighty is above all that, and nothing of the deeds of the children of Adam is hidden from Him."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is very weak; Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin al-'Ala' is matruk (abandoned), and al-Dhahabi declared him very weak in his "Talkhis", though he has been corroborated in it. Simak bin Harb is saduq (truthful) but not that strong as a proof, and he is alone in narrating from Abd Allah bin 'Umayrah, who is not known, and the chain between him and al-'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) is mu'dal or munqati'. (3891). Details of the narration: It will come again, repeated, under nos. (3469), (3589) and (3891). Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it in 3/(1770) from Abd al-Razzaq, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Something similar was recorded by Abu Dawud (4723-4725), Ibn Majah (193) and al-Tirmidhi (3320), via several routes from Simak bin Harb, with the same chain, Technical note / Defect ('illah): with the addition of al-Ahnaf bin Qays in its chain between Abd Allah bin 'Umayrah and al-'Abbas. Details of the narration: It will come in abridged form, with the story of the aw'al (mountain goats), under nos. (3470) and (3890), via Sharik, from Simak, as mawquf on al-'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him); in the second place he added al-Ahnaf. Note / Clarification: "al-Batha'": this is al-Muhassab, a well-known place in Makkah. Note / Clarification: "al-aw'al": the plural of "wa'il", the mountain goat. Ibn al-Athir said in "al-Nihayah": that is, angels in the form of mountain goats!!
