حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا السَّرِيُّ بن خُزَيمة، حدثنا مسلم بن إبراهيم، حدثنا أبانُ العطَّار، حدثنا يحيى بن أبي كَثير، عن زيد بن سلّام، عن أبي سلّام عن أبي أُمامة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "اقرؤوا الزَّهراوَينِ: البقرةَ وآل عِمرانَ" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite the two radiant surahs, Surah al-Baqarah and Surah Al Imran."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح، وسماع يحيى بن أبي كثير من زيد بن سلّام ثابتٌ صحيح، وكذا سماع أبي سلّام -وهو ممطور الحبشي- من أبي أمامة.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin Abi Kathir's hearing from Zayd bin Sallam is established and sound, and likewise the hearing of Abu Sallam (Mamtur al-Habashi) from Abu Umamah.
وأخرجه أحمد 36/ (22147) و (22193) عن عفان، عن أبان بن يزيد العطار، بهذا الإسناد- مطوَّلًا بنحو الرواية السالفة برقم (2096).
Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it in 36/(22147) and (22193) from 'Affan, from Aban bin Yazid al-'Attar, with this same chain, at length, similar to the narration that has already appeared under no. (2096).
وأخرجه أيضًا (22146) و (22213) من طريق هشام الدستوائي، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن أبي سلّام، به- بإسقاط زيد بن سلّام.
Reference / Source: He also recorded it (22146) and (22213) via Hisham al-Dastawa'i, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, from Abu Sallam, with the same chain, dropping Zayd bin Sallam.
