أخبرني علي بن محمد بن عُقْبة الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدثنا الهيثم بن خالد، حدثنا أبو نُعيم، حدثنا الحسن بن صالح، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقِيل، عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: الصِّراطُ المستقيمُ هو الإسلام، وهو أوسعُ ما بين السماءِ والأرض (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that "the straight path" [Surah al-Fatihah: 6] means Islam, and it is a path more vast than everything between the heavens and the earth.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(3) إسناده محتمل للتحسين من أجل عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل. أبو نعيم: هو الفضل بن دُكين.
Grading: Its chain is possibly hasan because of 'Abdullah bin Muhammad bin 'Aqil.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Nu'aym is al-Fadl bin Dukayn.
وأخرجه المروزي في "السنة" (25) من طريق وكيع، والطبري في "تفسيره" 1/ 74 من طريق حميد بن عبد الرحمن الرؤاسي، كلاهما عن الحسن بن صالح، بهذا الإسناد - وقرن حميدٌ بالحسن أخاه عليًّا، ورواية وكيع مختصرة. وسيأتي برقم (3709).
Reference / Source: Al-Marwazi recorded it in "al-Sunnah" (25) by way of Waki', and al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" 1/74 by way of Humayd bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Ru'asi, both of them from al-Hasan bin Salih, with this chain - Humayd paired al-Hasan with his brother 'Ali, and Waki''s narration is abridged.
