It is narrated from Sa'id, the father of Ishaq bin Sa'id, that he said: I was with Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a man came to him and cited a distant kinship, so Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Know your lineages so that you may maintain your ties of kinship; for there is no closeness in a tie of kinship if it is severed, even if it is close, and there is no distance in it if it is maintained, even if it is distant."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but neither of the two Shaykhs recorded it. As for Ishaq bin Sa'id (Ibn Amr bin Sa'id bin al-As), Imam Bukhari took most of his narrations from his father.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(7470). Grading: Its chain is sahih. Identification of names: Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi refers to Sulayman bin Dawud bin al-Jarud. Note / Clarification: This narration will come again at number (7470). 1/ 40 - 41. Reference / Source: This hadith is in "Musnad al-Tayalisi" (2880), and via his route al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Sunan" (vol. 10, p. 157) and "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7569), and al-Sam'ani in "al-Ansab" (vol. 1, pp. 40-41). (7570). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: In al-Bayhaqi's "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7570), Qurad Abu Nuh (Abd al-Rahman bin Ghazwan) corroborated al-Tayalisi in narrating it as marfu', transmitting it from Ishaq bin Sa'id. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ahmad bin Ya'qub differed from both of them: in al-Bukhari's "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (73) he narrated it from Ishaq bin Sa'id, from his father, from Ibn Abbas as mawquf. Important point: Since al-Tayalisi and Qurad are more trustworthy than him (Ahmad bin Ya'qub), their marfu' narration is the one to be relied upon. Note / Clarification: The meaning of his words "fa-matta ilayhi" is: he reached it or connected himself to it (sought access to it).
Reference / Source: Imam Muslim also used the narration of Ishaq bin Sa'id from his father as proof; and the author (al-Hakim) noticed this at the repeated occurrence mentioned, and declared it sahih according to the condition of the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
