Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2982

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) as a marfu' narration that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited (the word "anfasikum" with a fathah on the "fa'") this way: "laqad ja'akum rasulun min anfasikum" [Surah al-Tawbah: 128], the meaning of which is: "Indeed, there has come to you from among yourselves a Messenger who is the greatest of you in worth, rank and eminence."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Identification of the narrator: It is like this in manuscripts (Z), (S) and ('A), whereas manuscript (B) and "Ithaf al-Maharah" (7845) have "'Ali bin al-Husayn". We did not find his biography.

Grading of the chain: This chain is "da'if". We did not find biographies of Ibrahim bin Mihran and his teacher, and Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji is closer to weakness.
Reading (shadh): (من أنفَسِكم) with fatha on the fa' is a "shadh" reading (Ibn Jinni, Ibn Khalawayh). The reading of the majority is (من أنفُسِكم) with damma on the fa'.
