It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a (straight) line, then drew some (slanting) lines to the right and left of that line, then said: "This is the straight path of Allah, and these are the (divergent) paths; on each of them there is a devil calling towards it." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "And this is My path, straight, so follow it, and do not follow the other paths, for they will separate you from His path" [Surah al-An'am: 153].
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading of the chain: Its chain is "hasan" because of 'Asim (Ibn Abi al-Najud). Zirr refers to "Ibn Hubaysh". Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (11110) narrated it via al-Fadl bin al-'Abbas bin Ibrahim, from Ahmad bin Yunus, with this same chain. (3280). Reference: 'Asim has another teacher in it, "Abu Wa'il Shaqiq bin Salamah", which will come with the author (al-Hakim) later at number (3280).
