حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ ومحمد بن القاسم العَتَكي قالا: حدثنا أبو سهل بِشْر بن سهل اللَّبّاد، حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح المِصري، حدثنا حمّاد بن عبد الله بن عثمان بن خُثَيم، عن أبيه، عن سعيد بن جُبير - قال حماد: وقد سمعتُه من سعيد بن جُبير - عن ابن عبَّاس: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ كان يقرأ: ﴿فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ﴾ [الكهف: 86] (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the verse "fi 'aynin hami'ah" [Surah al-Kahf: 86] "in a spring of hot, dark mud" (reading the word "hami'ah" with a hamzah).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) حديث قوي، بشر بن سهل وعبد الله بن صالح توبعا فيما سيأتي برقم (2997)، وحماد ابن عبد الله بن عثمان بن خثيم لم نقف له على ترجمة، وقد تابعه حماد بن سلمة فيما سيأتي، وبيَّنّا هناك أنَّ المحفوظ فيه وقفه على ابن عبَّاس.
Grading: The hadith is "qawi" (strong). Bishr bin Sahl and 'Abd Allah bin Salih are corroborated later at number (2997). We did not find a biography of Hammad Ibn 'Abd Allah bin 'Uthman bin Khuthaym, but Hammad bin Salamah corroborated him. There we explained that what is "mahfuz" (preserved) in it is that it is "mawquf" on Ibn 'Abbas.
