It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting this verse this way: "Bala qad ja'atki ayati fa-kadhdhabti biha wa istakbarti wa kunti min al-kafirin" [Surah al-Zumar: 59] "Yes indeed, My signs came to you, but you denied them, and you were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers" (he (peace and blessings be upon him) read it in the feminine form of address).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(1) إسناده ضعيف لانفراد أبي جعفر عيسى بن ماهان الرازي به، فهو - وإن كان صدوقًا - في حفظه سوء وله مناكير إذا انفرد وبخاصةٍ في روايته عن الربيع بن أنس. وسيأتي مكررًا برقم (3035). Grading of the chain: This chain is "da'if" because Abu Ja'far 'Isa bin Mahan al-Razi is alone in narrating it. Although he is saduq (truthful), his memory is poor, and when he is alone (especially from al-Rabi' bin Anas) his narrations are munkar. (It will come again at number 3035.) وأخرجه أبو داود (3990) عن محمد بن رافع النيسابوري، عن إسحاق بن سليمان الرازي، به - إلّا أنه لم يذكر فيه أبا العالية، وهو رُفيع بن مِهران، وقال بإثره: هذا مرسل، الربيع لم يدرك أم سلمة. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (3990) narrated it via Muhammad bin Rafi', from Ishaq bin Sulayman al-Razi, but he did not mention Abu al-'Aliyah (Rufay' bin Mihran) in it. And he said: "This is mursal; al-Rabi' did not meet Umm Salamah." Examination of the reading: The reading here is with kasra on the kaf and the ta', addressing the soul (feminine) (stated explicitly in "Qira'at al-Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him)" by al-Duri, 99). A group read it so ("al-Durr al-Masun" 9/ 437). Al-Tabari (11/ 20) says: The reading which I do not consider it permissible to depart from is the one on which the readers of all the cities are unanimous, transmitted from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and that is "fatha" in all of these (that is, the masculine form of address).
