حدثنا علي بن حَمْشاذَ، حدثنا الحسن بن عبد الصمد، حدثنا عَبْدان بن عثمان، حدثنا عبد الله بن المبارَك، عن يونس بن يزيد، أخبرني أبو علي بن يزيد، عن ابن شِهاب، عن أنس: أنَّ النبي ﷺ كان يقرأ: ﴿وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَا أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ﴾ بالنَّصب (والعَينُ بالعَين) [المائدة: 45] بالرفع (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. رواه محمد بن معاوية النَّيسابوري عن عبد الله بن المبارَك بزيادات ألفاظ:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this verse this way: in "And We ordained for them therein that a life for a life" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 45], he read the word "al-nafsa" with nasb (fathah), while the words after it, "wa al-'aynu bi al-'ayn", he read with raf' (dammah).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة أبي علي بن يزيد.
Grading of the chain: This chain is "da'if" because Abu 'Ali bin Yazid is majhul (unknown).
وأخرجه أحمد 20/ (13249)، وأبو داود (3976) و (3977)، والترمذي (2929) من طرق عن عبد الله بن المبارك، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن غريب. وانظر ما بعده.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (20/ 13249), Abu Dawud (3976, 3977) and al-Tirmidhi (2929) narrated it via 'Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak. Al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "hasan gharib". (See the next narration.)
وأما قراءة الرفع في "العين" وما بعدها فهي للكسائي من القراء السبعة، وانظر توجيهها في "الدر المصون" للسمين الحلبي 4/ 273 - 277.
Reading (with damma): The reading with damma (raf') in "al-'ayn" and the words after it is that of al-Kisa'i (from among the seven readers). See its grammatical justification in "al-Durr al-Masun" (al-Samin al-Halabi, 4/ 273-277).
