Nafi' bin Abi Nu'aym narrates concerning "fa-ruhunun maqbudah" [Surah al-Baqarah: 283]. Then Nafi' said: Kharijah bin Zayd bin Thabit taught me to recite it, and he said: Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) taught me to recite it, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me to recite it in this same way, "fa-ruhunun maqbudah", without an alif.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading of the chain: This chain is "da'if" because of the weakness of Isma'il bin Qays (Ibn Sa'd bin Zayd bin Thabit). Al-Dhahabi pointed out this defect in his "Talkhis" for this same reason.
Readings: (فرُهُنٌ) without an alif was read by Ibn Kathir and Abu 'Amr. The rest of the seven readers read (فرِهانٌ) with kasra on the ra' and an alif added after the ha'. ("al-Sab'ah", p. 194.)
