It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were gathered around the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) engaged in compiling the Noble Qur'an (arranging its scattered portions), when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings (Tuba) for al-Sham." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Why is that? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the angels of the Most Merciful are spreading their wings over them (the people of al-Sham)." Jarir bin Hazim narrated it from Yahya bin Ayyub.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading of the hadith and chain: The hadith is "sahih", and this chain is "hasan" on account of Yahya bin Ayyub (al-Ghafiqi al-Misri) (he has been corroborated); the rest of its narrators are thiqah. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad (35/ 21607) from Yahya bin Ishaq, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (21606) also recorded it via Ibn Lahi'ah, and Ibn Hibban (7304) via 'Amr bin al-Harith and another with him (Ibn Lahi'ah), both from Yazid bin Abi Habib. They did not mention "compiling the Qur'an" in it. (See the next narration.) 7/ 146 - 147. Explanation: "Nu'allif al-Qur'an" means compiling it from scraps (riqa'), as in other narrations; "nu'allif" means "we gather". That is, arranging the scattered revealed verses in their surahs and gathering them there by the indication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They were then preserved in hearts and written on scraps, flat stones and palm-stalks. Then Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) gathered them from these into sheets (suhuf) at the indication of Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and then what he had gathered in the sheets was copied into "mushafs" at the indication of 'Uthman bin 'Affan, according to what the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him) had laid down. (Al-Bayhaqi, "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" 7/ 146-147.)
