فحدَّثَناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن عفّان، حدثنا أسباط بن محمد، عن مُطَرِّف، عن أبي الجَهْم، عن البراء بن عازب، قال: إني لأطوفُ على إبلٍ لي ضَلّت في عهد رسول الله ﷺ، فبَيْنا أنا أجُول في أبيات، فإذا أنا برَكْبٍ وفوارسَ جاؤوا فأطافُوا فاستخرجُوا رجلًا، فما سألوه ولا كَلَّموه حتى ضربوا عنقَه، فلما ذهبُوا سألتُ عنه، قالوا: عَرَّس بامرأةِ أبيه (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I was searching for some camels of mine that had gone astray. While I was wandering among some houses, I suddenly saw riders and horsemen who came and surrounded (a house) and brought a man out. They neither questioned him nor spoke to him, until they struck off his head. When they had gone, I asked about him, and the people said: "He had married his father's wife."

(1) حديث صحيح إن شاء الله، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل أبي الجهم: وهو سليمان بن الجَهْم بن أبي الجَهْم، وقال الذهبي في إسناده في "التلخيص": مليح. مُطرِّف: هو ابن طريف الحارثي.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih", in sha' Allah, and this chain is "hasan" because of Abu al-Jahm (Sulayman bin al-Jahm bin Abi al-Jahm). Al-Dhahabi called its chain "malih" (good) in "al-Talkhis". Mutarrif (in the chain) is "Ibn Tarif al-Harithi".
وأخرجه أحمد 30/ (18608) عن أسباط بن محمد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (30/ 18608) narrated it from Asbat bin Muhammad, with this chain.
وأخرجه أحمد (18620)، والنسائي (5466) من طريق جرير بن عبد الحميد، وأبو داود (4456) من طريق خالد بن عبد الله الواسطي، والنسائي (7182) من طريق أبي زبيد عَبْثَر بن القاسم، ثلاثتهم عن مُطرّف بن طريف، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (18620) and al-Nasa'i (5466) narrated it via Jarir bin Abd al-Hamid; Abu Dawud (4456) via Khalid bin Abd Allah al-Wasiti; and al-Nasa'i (7182) via Abu Zubayd 'Abthar bin al-Qasim. All three narrate it from Mutarrif bin Tarif, likewise.
