حدثنا علي بن حَمْشاذَ العدل وبكر بن محمد الصَّيرفي، قالا: حدثنا إسماعيل بن إسحاق القاضي، حدثنا أبو الوليد الطَّيالسي، حدثنا ليث بن سعد، عن أبي عَقِيل زُهْرة بن مَعْبَد، عن أبي صالح مولى عثمان بن عفّان، قال: سمعت عثمان بن عفّان، يقول: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: "رِبَاطُ يومٍ في سبيل الله خيرٌ من ألف يومٍ فيما سِواه" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Guarding the frontier (ribat) for one day in the path of Allah is better than a thousand days (of worship) elsewhere."

(1) إسناده حسن كما تقدم بيانه برقم (2412)، وحسَّنه الترمذي.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan", as explained earlier at number (2412), and Imam al-Tirmidhi also graded it hasan.
وأخرجه الترمذي (1667) عن الحسن بن علي الخلّال، عن أبي الوليد هشام بن عبد الملك الطيالسي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi narrated it (1667) through al-Hasan bin 'Ali al-Khallal, from Abu al-Walid Hisham bin 'Abd al-Malik al-Tayalisi, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 1/ (470) و (558) عن أبي النضر هاشم بن القاسم، والنسائي (4363) من طريق عبد الله بن يوسف، كلاهما عن الليث بن سعد، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (1/470, 558) from Abu al-Nadr Hashim bin al-Qasim, and al-Nasa'i (4363) via 'Abdullah bin Yusuf; both of them narrate it from al-Layth bin Sa'd.
