أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصفّار، حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى القاضي، حدثنا أبو حذيفة وأبو نُعيم، قالا: حدثنا سفيان، عن هشام بن عُرْوة، عن أبيه، عن عائشة، قالت: كانت صفيَّةُ من الصَّفِيّ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) was part of the "safi" (that is, the portion which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would select for himself before the distribution).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو حذيفة: هو موسى بن مسعود النَّهدي، وأبو نعيم: هو الفضل بن دُكين، وسفيان: هو الثَّوري.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih".

والصفيُّ: ما يأخذُه رئيس الجيش ويختارُه لنفسه من الغنيمة قبل القسمة.
