It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at Ta'if on the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached al-Ji'ranah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed silver among the people.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (S), (B) and ('A) the name is like this, whereas in manuscript (Z) it is recorded as "Abu al-Hasan bin Ali al-Qabbani", with the addition of the word "Abu".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): After intensive research it appears that he is probably "Husayn bin Muhammad bin Ziyad al-Qabbani", as in Ibn Hajar's "Ithaf al-Maharah" (3678). Apparently, in al-Hakim's source copies "Husayn" was altered to "Hasan" and "Muhammad" was altered to "Ali". The kunyah of Husayn bin Muhammad al-Qabbani was "Abu Ali"; it is possible that originally it read "Husayn bin Muhammad Abu Ali al-Qabbani", from which "Muhammad" and the word "Abu" dropped out, leaving "Husayn bin Ali", which later became "Hasan bin Ali".

Technical note / Defect ('illah): Manuscript (B) has "Abd al-A'la bin Abd al-A'la", but this addition is wrong, because no narration of Abd al-A'la bin Abd al-A'la al-Sami from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari is known. In his generation there is another narrator, "Abd al-A'la bin Muhammad", whom al-Azdi called weak, and this is the correct name.

Grading: The hadith is sahih, but this chain is weak because of the weakness of Abd al-A'la bin Muhammad.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin Sa'id is specified here as "al-Ansari"; although this hadith is narrated from the trustworthy imam Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari, here he apparently is "al-Farisi al-Tamimi al-Mazini", who is weak (as in al-Mizan and Lisan al-Mizan). However, the trustworthy Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari has corroborated him.
Reference / Source: Muslim (1063), al-Nasa'i (8033) and Ibn Hibban (4819) narrated it via the routes of al-Layth bin Sa'd, Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi and Imam Malik from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari. Imam al-Hakim's including it in the Mustadrak is an oversight (dhuhul) on his part.
Reference / Source: Imam Muslim (1063) also narrated it via the route of Qurrah bin Khalid from Abu al-Zubayr.
Note / Clarification: "Hunayn" is one of the valleys of Makkah, located about 30 km to the east of Makkah. Today it is called "Wadi al-Shara'i'", and its upper part is called "Sadr Hunayn".
Note / Clarification: "Al-Ji'ranah" is a place about 29 km to the north-east of Makkah.
