Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2578

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Muqarrin (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (in the expeditions). It was his (peace and blessings be upon him) practice that if he did not begin fighting in the early part of the day, he would delay the fighting until the sun had passed its zenith and the winds began to blow.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but he did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The name of "Ma'qil bin Yasar" had dropped out of the manuscripts, but it is present in all the other chains and in the hadith coming later (5362), so, it being a scribal slip, we have restored it here.

Grading: The chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hammad is Hammad bin Salamah, and Abu Imran al-Jawni is Abd al-Malik bin Habib.

Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih".
Reference / Source: Ahmad (39/ 23744), al-Tirmidhi (1613), al-Nasa'i (8583) and Ibn Hibban (4757) narrated it via routes from Hammad bin Salamah.
Details of the narration: This narration will come later at (5362) via Hajjaj bin Minhal from Hammad bin Salamah, within the story of the conquest of Nahawand. It is also narrated in al-Bukhari (3159) and Ibn Hibban (4756) via the route of Jubayr bin Hayyah from al-Nu'man bin Muqarrin, with similar wording.
