It is narrated from Sayyiduna Furat bin Hayyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had (at first) ordered that he be killed, because he was a spy for Abu Sufyan and an ally of a man from the Ansar. He said: "I am a Muslim." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among you are some men whom we entrust to their faith (that is, we accept their outward claim), and Furat bin Hayyan is one of them."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this name was altered to "Habib", while in the narration of Imam al-Bayhaqi (8/ 197) it is transmitted correctly.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The part between the square brackets was blank in the original manuscripts, and it has been completed from the narration of Imam al-Bayhaqi (8/ 197). This narration will also come later at no. (8292).
Grading: Its chain is "qawi" (strong) because of Harithah bin Mudarrib. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sufyan bin Sa'id is Imam al-Thawri, and Abu Ishaq is Amr bin Abd Allah al-Sabi'i. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2652) via Muhammad bin Bashshar. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (31/ 18965) from Bishr bin al-Sari from Sufyan al-Thawri. Details of the narration: A similar narration was transmitted by Imam Ahmad (27/ 16593 and 38/ 23182) via the route of Isra'il from Abu Ishaq, in which Furat bin Hayyan (of Banu Ijl) is mentioned, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among you are some people to whom I do not give (wealth); rather I entrust them (to their faith)".
