Sayyiduna Sahl bin Mu'adh narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him), and he from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To see off a mujahid in the path of Allah and help him onto his mount, in the morning or the evening, is dearer to me than the world and all that is in it."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak), because Zabban bin Fa'id in it is a weak narrator. Technical note / Defect ('illah): By Ibn Wahb mentioned in the chain is meant Abdullah bin Wahb. Reference / Source: Ahmad (24/15643) and Ibn Majah (2824) narrated it through Abdullah bin Lahi'ah from Zabban. Note / Clarification: The wording of the hadith "fa-aluffahu" (so that I wrap it up) is narrated in another version as "fa-akfufahu" or "akuffahu" (so that I hold it back); all of them have one meaning: "that I push it or turn it (the mount or animal) back towards its saddle/lodging."
