It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him). Sa'sa'ah bin Mu'awiyah said: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): What is your wealth? He said: My wealth is my deeds, my wealth is my deeds. I said: Narrate a hadith to me. He said: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no servant who spends a pair (two items) from every kind of his wealth in the way of Allah, except that the gatekeepers of Paradise come forward to receive him, each of them calling him to himself." I asked: How is that? He said: "If they are slaves, then two; if they are camels, then two; and if they are cows, then two."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration. Sa'sa'ah bin Mu'awiyah is among the illustrious men of the Arabs, and the companions of al-Hasan al-Basri narrated it from him.
